SME Fund Assistance Launched by the EUIPO

The European Commission has launched the SME Fund, a grant scheme designed to help small and medium-sized enterprises established within the EU, protect their intellectual property such as trademarks and patents.

What is an IP?

Intellectual property (IP) covers intangible assets that are mainly attributed to creations, such as inventions, business trading names, logos, literary and artistic works, designs, symbols, names and images used in commerce as well as products, services and processes containing any of the afore-mentioned characteristics.

The Grant

The grant takes the form of a credit granted before the application procedure and redeemed afterwards, which covers up to 75% of the total costs of the intellectual property registration costs on a local or EU level.

Why protect your IP?

Protection of an IP is a must in today's digital age. Through the registration of such IP, whether on a local level, EU level or world-wide level, an applicant has legal assertion from having the unique ideas, products, or services copied or used without permission.

Who can benefit?

Any SME, whether operated as a sole-proprietor, company or through any other legal entity may apply.
